Accessiblity Statement

Last Modified: November 11, 2025

Accessibility

Magnolia fully supports all accessibility standards for building customer-facing experiences. Our current accessibility work, as detailed on this page, is to support the users of our application to create and manage digital experiences.

At Magnolia, we believe that accessibility is not just a feature or an initiative, but a fundamental right. We are committed to ensuring that our software is usable by everyone, regardless of their abilities or disabilities. This commitment aligns with the principles of the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and goes beyond legal requirements to embrace inclusivity as a core value of our company. The EAA itself does not apply to Magnolia because only services provided to consumers are in scope of the act.

As a result, we are committed to meeting the WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards wherever possible—beyond the current required standard for compliance, WCAG 2.1. Striving for WCAG 2.2 allows us to prepare for future requirements and ensure a higher level of accessibility.

We also recognize the importance of these requirements for our partners and clients, especially those in the public sector.

Our efforts to enhance Magnolia's Accessibility are underway

With our upcoming new Design System, revamped UI, and focus on the authoring experience, we aim to enable barrier-free, efficient, easy, and speedy content creation for everyone. We are overhauling the Magnolia User Interface (UI) to be fully accessible from the ground up. This allows us to achieve a level of quality that would not be possible with surface level patches.

The Magnolia user interface is not yet fully accessible. As it’s a large and complex product, the changes to improve accessibility are rolled out progressively, and this page acts as documentation of that process.

We conduct regular reviews of our accessibility, and will continue to do so to ensure that we continue to prioritize accessibility for our users.

Roadmap priorities

Key accessibility initiatives scheduled for delivery in 2026 include:

  • Accessible Pages Editor: The page editor UI is being completely re-engineered for usability and to be fully barrier-free.

  • Assets App accessibility improvements: The keyboard navigation including tab order and focus visibility will be improved.

  • Content Apps accessibility improvements: The Content Apps, the fundamental authoring concept in Magnolia will be barrier free. The keyboard navigation including tab order and focus visibility will be improved.

  • Completion of New UI for authoring: All authoring tools and app navigation will be completely reimplemented in the new design system to be fully accessible.

Released updates

November 2025

  • Accessible Forms (Official Release): As authors spend most of their time entering and editing content in forms, this improvement will have a big impact on overall product accessibility.
  • Enhanced Global Search: The global search will enable everyone to get to the content they need faster, more easily, and with more control. Built in the new design system, meaning that the UI will be fully accessible.
  • Accessible Dependencies Visualisation & Management: The features aims to improve the editors' experience by clearly showing where an item is used and what the impact will be when deleting it.
  • Accessible App Navigation: The keyboard navigation for the login, among the header items, and the “App Launcher” main home screen will be improved with visual focus indicators.

June 2025

  • Accessible Forms (technical preview): As authors spend most of their time entering and editing content in forms, this improvement will have a big impact on overall product accessibility. The new forms are available for review by all customers.

September 2024

  • In-App Search for Pages and Assets: Accessibility improvements to in-app search include full-text search, new filtering options, better legibility of highlighted words and copy improvements for more plain language.
  • Improved Deletion Workflow: Users benefit from better visual feedback thanks to informative success notification pop-ups upon submitting deletion requests or completing content deletion actions. Additionally, the Action Bar has been refined to improve the clarity of titles, action labels, and icons.
  • Improved App navigation: Each app has a new Home tab upon opening. This tab provides better orientation to the user and maintains better readability and consistency in the user experience.
  • CKEditor 5: CKEditor 5 is compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 (WCAG) 2.2 levels A and AA and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act unless stated otherwise in the Accessibility Conformance Report. All new Magnolia installations use CKEditor 5 by default, and existing customers can access it by upgrading to Magnolia 6.3.
  • Design Refresh: Magnolia UI has been updated to include improved contrast, textual status indicators, and larger—more legible—font sizes for improved readability.
