Training
Magnolia offers professional training services for Web developers. The standardized training for Web developers is offered in both Basel, Switzerland and in Malvern, Pennsylvania, United States. On site training at the client’s location is also offered.
Training Description
This five-day, instructor-led course provides Web developers with the knowledge and skills necessary to configure and define the design of a Web site using Magnolia and its Java-based tools and standards. This includes introducing training attendees to key Magnolia CMS concepts, a demonstration of the system’s authoring tools, providing instruction on the use of standard templates, as well as how to customize template scripts, how to work in the administrative environment that is used to install, configure and manage Magnolia CMS, security features and how to use the various modules and add-ons.
Prerequisites
Training attendees are encouraged to have familiarity with the Java Servlet API, a Java development environment (Eclipse IDE preferred) and Java Database Connectivity. Training in North America is conducted in the English language. North American clients requiring training in a language other than English, must supply their own translation service.
Class Size
For standard training in Basel and Malvern, the minimum class size is 3 people and the maximum is 6 external attendees. Attendees are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registered attendees will be notified the day after the session’s registration deadline as to whether the class has met the minimum class size requirement. Training scheduled for a Magnolia facility not meeting the minimum attendance will be rescheduled.
For standard training at a client's site, maximum class size is 5 people per trainer. For class sizes of 6 to 10 people, 2 trainers are required.
Standard Training Curriculum
Day 1: Magnolia CMS concepts: paragraphs, dialogs, templates
Day 2: Magnolia CMS concepts: modules, context objects, controls
Day 3: Standard Templating Kit (STK)
Day 4: Catch-up / Advanced topics: cache, filter chain, i18n, rendering, workflow
Day 5: Advanced topics: modules, clustering
Class Schedule
Classes begin at 9 a.m. each day and end at 5 p.m. There is a one-hour break for lunch.
Equipment Required
We assume and recommend that participants use their own laptops or workstations. Magnolia CMS runs on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
