Partnership with Magnolia
CE's first deployment of Magnolia CMS was for the US Navy's Web site in 2010. Following this, CE entered into a strategic partnership with Magnolia to bring open source content management solutions to major customers in the United States. CE developers are active contributors to the Magnolia community, participating in the online mailing lists and creating useful tools for wireframing and rapid development.
CE chose to partner with Magnolia after a thorough evaluation of Web content management solutions (including some internally-developed solutions). The key reasons for choosing Magnolia as a partner over competing alternatives were:
- Magnolia's sophisticated workflow management engine
- Magnolia's compliance with standards and Web accessibility guidelines
- Magnolia's simple and user-friendly editing interface for content authors
- Magnolia's open development process, based on collaboration and innovation
In-depth Magnolia Expertise
Serving customers across the U.S., CE is a multi-service advertising agency that undertakes a great deal of visual communication work for clients in different verticals. With a trained, expert team of Art Directors, User Interface Architects and Engineers, Digital Experience Planners, Quality Assurance Analysts, Project Managers and Account Directors, CE has the skills and experience to create compelling digital communication platforms based on Magnolia CMS architecture.
One of CE's most well-known Magnolia CMS deployments is for Navy.com, the main Web site for the U.S. Navy's recruitment efforts. The site was relaunched in 2010 as a modern, standards-compliant portal of information, news and support for serving U.S. Navy personnel and new recruits. Key goals of the project were to make the site more interactive, more responsive to user needs, and better integrated with social media communities nurtured by the U.S. Navy. CE was able to accomplish these goals with an implementation based on Magnolia CMS Enterprise Edition and Blossom, Magnolia's Spring integration module.
CE developers are also responsible for creating the Magnolia STK Stencil Library for Omnigraffle, a tool for rapid wireframing, creative brainstorming, and experience planning, and the Magnolia Twigs Module, which provides templates and paragraphs for additional use cases such as Social Media integration and Google Maps.
Benefits of the Partnership
CE's development team has been able to work directly with Magnolia product managers and engineers to solve technical problems or adapt Magnolia's standard workflows to meet custom use cases.
CE has been able to leverage Magnolia's sales team for new business development, and ensure expert training and support for its Magnolia development team, through direct access to key members of the Magnolia engineering team.
Magnolia is delighted to be teaming up with CE, a marketing communications company with major national clients. We look forward to building on our partnership that started with the US Navy to deliver the value of open source to other clients.
