Magnolia 4.0
With Magnolia CMS 4.0, managing the layout of one or multiple Web sites has become as simple and yet as sophisticated as managing content. Designers and programmers have full control over the look&feel of content input and output interfaces within the front- as well as back-end through the browser-based administration interface. They can quickly build custom Web site designs on top of the Magnolia Standard Templating Kit which provides production-ready templates.

New features in Magnolia 4.0
- Standard Templating Kit (STK): The STK is a complete, out-of-the-box website layout that conforms to accessibility standards. It provides „templating best practice“ and an extensive set of ready-made functionality that can easily be extended for custom designs and content output.
- SEO optimized: Magnolia 4.0 delivers content to the Web optimized for search engines.
- Accessiblity conformance: Magnolia templates follow the guidelines of W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG2m) as well as Germany's BITV (Barrierefreie Informationstechnik-Verordnung).
- Supports mobile devices: Content formatting in Magnolia 4.0 supports iPhone & other mobile devices. It adapts a website-layout automatically to the available screen estate of any client - be it a mobile device or a wide screen monitor.
- Turn-key page templates: Magnolia 4.0 includes 11 use-case-driven page templates that are production-ready: Home-page, Section-page, News, Events, Article, Image-Gallery, Form, Sitemap and others. - Advanced templates management: Magnolia 4.0 allows to fully control the complete layouting life-cycle. Templates can be activated/de-activated, imported & exported, put under version and access control. Template aliases (references) can be configured as well as regular backups of all design elements.
- Explicit Multi-Site support: Magnolia 4.0 provides a new configuration option to share templates across multiple sites while maintaining separate functionality and layout.
- Adding Freemarker as a template language: The Templating Kit is written in Freemarker, which provides new possibilities and makes the development of templates faster and easier than using JSP. JSP remains fully supported and in true Magnolia-fashion, you can mix and match both templating languages to secure your investment and profit from the latest developments at the same time.
- New Form module: The new Form module provides server-side data-validation, logging and personalized confirmation mails.
- Enhanced Mail module: Attachments can now be sent from within Magnolia for HTML as well as plain text emails. When sending a page, images and links are automatically being processed. Email templates can be build with FreeMarker. The new mail module supports the "SMTP Service Extension for Secure SMTP over TLS" (see RFC2487).
