Magnolia CMS Wins Swiss Open Source Award

At Swiss Open Systems User Group in Zurich, Magnolia International Ltd. was today honored with the Contribution Award. This award praises the Swiss company for worldwide success with their content management system based on international standards and an open relationship with customers, partners and the development community.

Magnolia offers a well known standards-based solution that enterprises use to manage mission-critical information. The community of customers and partners is directly involved in the development process. Innovation gained in the process flows back into the open source community.

The top-class jury evaluated contestants on open standards, economic benefits, competitiveness with commercial software, as well as activity within the project and community structure and activity.

Jury member Sebastian Spaeth, ETH Zurich, valued Magnolia for its international success, the "clear link to the Developer’s Corner on the company’s homepage, and their open, 'upstream' communication approach." Corsin Camichel of camichel.com emphasized how Magnolia’s "high quality and activity" contributed to their success.

Magnolia founders Pascal Mangold and Boris Kraft are particularly pleased with the fairness of competitor and jury member Cédric Hüsler who works as Director of Product Marketing for Day Software. According to Hüsler, “Magnolia offers a well known standards-based solution that enterprises use to manage mission-critical information. This is the third year for the Swiss Open Source Awards, the most valued distinction in the Swiss open-source scene. Award winners are open source projects, companies and individuals. In addition to the Contribution Award, a Business Case Award for best open source computer science project and an Advocacy Award for best promotion of open source software were granted.
