We are looking for a seasoned and enthusiastic full-time consultant to add to our stellar Client Services team. Want to build sites and content management processes that solve real-world business problems?
You will need a broad technological background with a focus on front-end Java Web technologies. You have experience with Web technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JQuery as well as Java.
You like to work as a subject matter expert. Experience as a consultant – preferably in the area of Web content management – is expected. Your background has taught you how to collect requirements and translate a business problem into a technical solution.
This is not a typical on-the-road consulting position. Besides occasional short duration visits to client sites, you will primarily work in the Services team at our Basel office. The Client Services team communicates with clients directly. Being the public face to our clients, you are a naturally outspoken, clear communicator.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Client Services team
- Help prospects and potential clients during initial product evaluation.
- Understand what the client wants to accomplish and advice on best practices how to get there with Magnolia CMS and Standard Templating Kit
- Advise clients on how to implement their Magnolia CMS project successfully.
- Organize and run workshops for clients. Manage prototyping sessions.
- Suggest development, integration and deployment approaches for specific requirements.
- Provide expert know-how on Magnolia CMS deployment and system architecture, including backup strategies, load balancing, failover, security, multisite and general hosting configuration.
- Build proofs of concept.
- Build new modules.
- Trace issues in client implementations and propose solutions
- Give training at our Basel office or on client site.
- Travel to client's location to provide the above services on-site
What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. Master's degree is preferred.
- 6 years of experience in software development, building or managing the development of a complex, commercial, enterprise-class product. Experience with SaaS model and Web Services is a big plus.
- Proven front-end Web development skills.
- Proven skills in using object-oriented approaches based on Java, EJB, Servlets, HTML and JavaScript based UI.
- Experience in as many operating systems, application servers, databases and related products as possible (e.g. Unix, Solaris, OSX, Windows; WebSphere, WebLogic, Glassfish, Tomcat, JBoss; Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server etc.)
- At least one significant stint in a mature engineering organization building packaged products required. Experience in a fast paced startup environment with short, quick product life cycles very desirable.
- Excellent technical, problem solving and communications skills.
- Experience in Internet technologies: HTTP, HTML, XML, Web server, server-side Java and databases.
- Literate and fluent in English. Fluency in German, Spanish or another language would be an advantage.
- A strong commitment to timelines and deliverables.
- Willing and able to travel occasionally.

Location
Place of work is Basel, Switzerland. Our job openings are full-time employment opportunities. We do not cover relocation costs.
