Magnolia is developed in an Open-Source fashion but with strong oversight and quality-assurance from the vendor. While some proprietary vendors will sell you Security through Obscurity, Magnolia (and the vast majority of analysts) believe that "given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow" (Eric S. Raymond in "The Cathedral and the Bazaar").

But not only does our development model by default provide a more secure system than any proprietary code.Our architecture and choice of platform also make the system more secure on different levels. (See also "High Availability" below).

Magnolia has been built from scratch for enterprise requirements related to high availability. Performance has many different faces. To your clients, it might mean a better user experience that allows for improved service levels. For your system administrator, it means faster backup & restore mechanisms. For your business, it means you need less servers – and less software licenses – for the same performance you would get from our competition.

Magnolia is built on a distributed architecture. Out-of-the-box, Magnolia runs on two servers – one author, one public, with the option to add many more public servers.

Magnolia is based on the Java platform, which has traditionally been the platform of choice in the financial sector. It is based on open standards like JSR-170, which makes it easy to integrate Magnolia into your legacy environment. Magnolia itself has many extension points or hooks that allow you to extend Magnolia in many different ways to match your needs.
