Kokaihop.se launched in September 2007 by Mikael Andersson and Kimmo Björnsson, developers from Gothenburg with long experience in the Internet-projects and a sense of good food. Since December 2009 we have also been reinforced by Kenny Oberg. Das Oekotaxi fährt Honda Insight Hybrid. Ein Auto, das im Durchschnitt gut 2–3 Liter weniger Treibstoff als ein herkömmlich angetriebenes Fahrzeug verbraucht. Bei einer taxiüblichen Jahreskilometerleistung von über 35'000 km bedeutet dies rund 2143 kg CO2 weniger pro Jahr. Die ersten zehn Oekotaxis, die seit dem 25. Juni 2009 auf Basels Strassen fahren, sparen also bereits im ersten Jahr über 20 Tonnen CO2 ein.

Mit dem Festival der Kulturen, das seit 1995 alljährlich an dem Auffahrtswochenende in Rheinfelden stattfindet, wollen wir Menschen von überall her die Möglichkeit geben, Einblick in die Kunst und Kultur naher und ferner Länder zu erhalten. Einerseits wollen wir Europäern einen Einblick in außereuropäische Kulturformen bieten, und andererseits wollen wir Menschen, die von anderen Kontinenten kommen, an die Kultur Europas heranführen. Wir wollen mit diesem Anlass einen Raum schaffen, in dem sich Menschen unterschiedlichster Herkunft in entspannter und fröhlicher Atmosphäre begegnen und beschnuppern können. Dadurch wird ein Austausch ermöglicht, der für alle sehr bereichernd sein kann.
